Content
Ashly, an art historian and ambitious mother, leaves her unhappy relationship only to stumble a few years later across Ulrik, an archaeologist from Sweden and a single parent just like herself. Their paths cross, when their smart children, Jake and Claire, meet at school and become inseparable friends. In the eyes of the two youngsters the two grown-ups are a perfect match for each other.
However, fate is to step in and turns everything around.
Whereas Ulrik falls immediately for the lovely Ashly, she is on the look-out for someone to spice up her life. Before their friendship can develop into more, Gordon, a businessman from Australia enters the scene, and Ashly gets more than she bargained for. She becomes entangled in a web of sex and intrigues, leaving Ulrik to make a life-changing decision, which brings Ashly and Jake close to the brink of despair.
But Ashly would not be Ashly if she were not to find ways to get back on her feet by fulfilling a long cherished dream of travelling the world with her son. Eventually, the travel experience paves the way for her to reverse her fear of failing relationships, forcing her to have a change of heart and make a very important choice before it is too late.
And as for Jake, despite all his efforts, he finds it hard to forget the girl he knew since childhood. Left with a broken heart he comes to realise that Claire’s magic still enthrals him.
A love story with more than one twist!

Ashly could hardly wait until Thursday to see Gordon. She had translated the little text for him without questioning what it was for. It had been a dull day, and when she arrived at his suite, Gordon awaited her with a chilled bottle of champagne and two crystal glasses.
“I have fresh oysters,” he said while helping Ashly out of her coat, and then went on to explain with a flippant smile, “Oysters are good for your health. They contain zinc and protein which strengthens your immune system. And they are also an excellent aphrodisiac.” “You mean they make me horny?” Ashly remarked. Gordon bent over her, kissing her along the neck. “Do you need such a stimulus?” he asked while slowly sliding his right hand straight down between her legs. Ashly couldn’t resist, she gave in to his fondling and enjoyed his foreplay all the way to his bed. She had hardly been able to take her tight dress off before they both sunk into the soft cushions. She felt wonderful – even more so when he positioned himself on top of her and then took her. “This is awesome,” Ashly screamed in ecstasy. “I want more!” ***** |
Everything was so simple – at least for Jake and Claire that was. According to them, their parents were a perfect match. They were made for each other!
“As above so below,” Jake philosophised while squatting on the treehouse porch, immersed in thought. “What do you mean?” Claire asked him, furrowing her brow. “Do you mean that hard to watch thriller?” “No, no – not that cheap horror rubbish. I mean the analogy – My mother is an art historian and your father is an archaeologist,” Jake began to explain. “She is interested in everything artful above the ground and he is interested in everything below the ground.” “Ah, you mean what Isaac Newton once said: That which is below is like that which is above and that which is above is like that which is below,” Claire answered back. “Yes! Exactly! It’s an ancient wisdom and means that everything on earth has its parallel in heaven. The galaxies up there,” Jake pointed to the sky, “and the microbes below,” he continued, pointing to the ground. “Could one also say as large so small?” she wondered. “Yes. Or as without so within,” the boy confirmed and added, “everything is possible, as long as it’s an analogy.” ***** |
